The Group of Twenty (G20) comprises 19 countries like USA, China, India, Japan plus the European Union and the G20 leaders meet annually. However, the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meet regularly to discuss ways to strengthen the global economy, reform international financial institutions, improve financial regulation, and discuss key economic reforms.
The next G20 summit is in Hangzhou, China on 4–5 September 2016 and the theme is ‘Towards an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected and Inclusive World Economy’. The leading think tanks from G20 and around the world convened in Beijing on July 29-30 to provide policy recommendations for this year’s G20 Summit. The think tank summit is known as T20 (Think Tank 20) which was organized by three leading Chinese think tanks (i) Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP), at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) (ii) Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) and (iii) Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China (RDCY).
Although Bangladesh is not a member of G20, IPAG was invited to speak on the T20 Innovation Forum. Mr. Khasru spoke on the ‘Prospect of STI Cooperation & Youth Exchanges’.
