Since the independence of Bangladesh, Japan has maintained a longstanding friendship which has been upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership after the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Dhaka on September 6-7, 2014. As an international think tank based in Dhaka, IPAG has been leading strengthening Japan-Bangladesh think tank level cooperation. Objective is to support the government and private sector initiatives by undertaking quality research, analysis and providing a platform for meaningful multi-stakeholder dialogue and engagement. As a part of that endeavor, IPAG team led by Syed Munir Khasru, Chairman of IPAG, visited three leading think tanks from Japan to promote think tank level cooperation and knowledge sharing. The leading Japanese think tanks are: Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), Tokyo Foundation and Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE).
