On August 28, 2015, a team of The Institute for Policy, Advocacy, and Governance (IPAG) led by Mr. Syed Munir Khasru had visited The Shanghai Institute for International Studies (SIIS) think tank in Shanghai.

The key participants who were representing the SIIS were Mr. Zhao Gancheng, Senior Fellow and Director of South Asia Studies; Dr. Wang Weihua, Associate Director, Institute for Foreign Policy Studies; and Dr. Liu Zongyi, Senior Fellow, Institute for World Economy Studies & Center for Asia-Pacific Studies.

Both sides noted the complementary capabilities and shared interests between SIIS and IPAG in the meeting and agreed about the relevance and importance of institutional cooperation between SIIS and IPAG.

At the end of the meeting, SIIS and IPAG decided to jointly organize a one or two day international conclave on Strategic Cooperation in the BCIM region and also explore cooperation on various regional cooperation and integration initiatives with special focus on strategic aspects.
